Relax and Still Be Watchful

Relaxing does not mean not watching!
In all the ‘dangerous places’ that I have traveled in 26 years of living in Europe and traveling in Eastern Europe, Africa and India … nothing has ever been stolen from me when I was being watchful when traveling.
Arriving home, enjoying some time with my Grand-kids eating out at McDonald’s, I was relaxed – and not watching carefully – and the enemy slipped in and  my wallet was stolen.  What a mess… canceling all the credit card, re-ordering the driving licences, and filling an insurance claim for all the mixed currencies that is now gone – in the blink of an eye.
It was when King David was relaxing at home that he ran into his biggest major defeat — not on the battlefield.
The scripture warns “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.  (1 Peter 5:8 ESV)
When we are watchful we can minamize, if not eliminate, the success of the enemy’s attack.
Out of this experience, I have learned that even when we relax we still need to be watchful!
